Founded in 1981, the Vail Valley Foundation (VVF) was created to enhance the quality of life in the Vail Valley through athletic, cultural, and educational programs and events. Today, the VVF operates with an average annual budget of approximately $22 million and a full-time staff of 70 employees. In the arts We operate two performing arts centers, the Vilar Performing Arts Center (VPAC) and the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater, and we host the annual Vail Dance Festival. We also encourage exposure to the performing arts through programs like STARS at the VPAC and Community Arts Access, Dancing in the Streets, and Master Classes during the Vail Dance Festival. We are also the organization behind Hot Summer Nights and ShowDown Town free summer concerts. In athletics Each December we host the Xfinity Birds of Prey Audi FIS Ski World Cup races and the summer Mountain Games (known as the GoPro Mountain Games) each June in Vail. Historically, we have hosted three Alpine World Ski Championships (1989, 1999 and 2015) and major cycling, mountain biking, snowboarding and other international sporting events. In education YouthPower365 is the education initiative of the Vail Valley Foundation. Our programs serve children from preschool age to career and college. The organization operates in virtually every school in Eagle County and helps youth reach their full potential. We serve thousands of youth every year, and we are with them every step of the way. In our community Beyond our work in arts, athletics, and education, the Vail Valley Foundation always seeks to serve the community even as those needs change and develop. Recently, we have accomplished this through initiatives like the VVF Community Fund, which provided $1.5 million in COVID-related relief to the community, the COVID-19 Private Sector Task Force, our role as a convener to lead the Workforce Housing Taskforce and our efforts to create incremental and affordable childcare through our Eagle River Valley Childcare initiative. Leadership & Staff The VVF has an engaged Board of Directors and an active 26-member group of Life Trustees; Chris Jarnot serves as Board Chair. Each board member serves on one to two of the twelve Board committees. The Finance and Investment Committee Chair is John Arnold. The Finance and Investment Committee meets four times per year and provides strategic guidance to our Investment Portfolio Manager, Goldman Sachs, as well as guidance and final recommendation to the President and CFO as well as the Board Executive Committee for significant financial decisions, and budgets. The full-time management team and staff of 70 is led by VVF President and CEO, Mike Imhof. The VVF executive team is comprised of the President, Chief Philanthropy Officer, Vice President of Sales, Vice President of Marketing and Operations, Chief Financial Officer, Executive Director of YouthPower365, Chief Human Resources Officer, VPAC Executive Director, and our Chief Technology Officer.
