Title: Pinal County Senior Community Organizer 

Employment type: Full-time, Exempt  

Salary Range: $48-000-$54,000 

Location: Maricopa City, AZ 

Reports To: Policy and Advocacy Director

About The Role

In 2023, the time for organizing our communities is more important than it has ever been. Our family of organizations Arizona Coalition for Change (501(c)3), Our Voice Our Vote Arizona (501(c)4), and Our Voice Our Vote Arizona PAC is seeking a passionate and experienced Community Organizer to lead our initiatives in Pinal County, primarily within Maricopa City. The successful candidate will play a critical role in deepening our engagement within the community, identifying key issues, and fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment that champions the voices of the BIPOC constituents. The primary responsibility of this position is to spearhead and oversee community engagement initiatives in Maricopa City and throughout Pinal County, ensuring that our outreach and programs are tailored, responsive, and deeply impactful. This role demands an individual with an innate ability to bridge gaps, is community-oriented, and has deep familiarity of Maricopa City, mobilize community members, and turn challenges into transformative opportunities for the betterment of all. The organizer will work closely with all team members to facilitate one-on-one meetings, town halls, and community events.

Role Responsibilities: 

  • Community Engagement:
  • Establish robust relationships with local stakeholders and community members.
  • Identify and address key local issues, ensuring that our actions resonate with the community's concerns and aspirations.
  • Organize and host town halls and events, fostering open dialogue and active participation to ascertain and address the community's unique needs.
  • Office Management and Operations:
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of our Maricopa City office, positioning it as both a dynamic organizational hub and an inviting community center.
  • Offer resources and platforms for dialogue, ensuring continuous community engagement and support.
  • Member Support, Recruitment, and Coordination 
  • Design and execute a recruitment strategy to attract new members 
  • Conduct regular outreach to build awareness and increase existing member participation
  • Recruit to fill roles for Pinal County team 
  • Leadership Development:
  • Initiate and oversee leadership development programs, creating a sustainable pipeline of empowered community advocates.
  • Mentor potential leaders, enabling them to champion community initiatives and advocacy efforts.


Ideal Skills and Background:

  • 1-2 Years of experience as an organizer
  • Passionate about developing relationships and building grassroots power for Black and other people of color communities in the state
  • Special interest in building power among low-income people of color to fight for social, economic, and racial justice 
  • Ability to work democratically and effectively with diverse groups and people 
  • Strong team player, familiar with team dynamics, and willing to work in a team environment
  • Comfortable with working as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team
  • Capacity and willingness to work long, flexible hours including some weekends
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • The ability to produce consistent, quality work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work at a macro level, keeping in mind the broader vision, while also attending to operational details
  • Willing to travel between Phoenix and Tucson
