The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Supervising Special Investigator (PCN 100206) to join our team. This position will be leading the Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement team within our Prevention and Health Promotion Division. Find out more information on this great opportunity below.


POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Work Schedule: Typically Monday - Friday, may include occasional weekend hours
  • Work Shift: First shift, typically 8:00am to 4:30pm, may include occasional evening hours
  • Work Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Location: 410 Capitol Ave, Hartford, CT

Please Note: This position will require considerable amount of travel within the State. Incumbents in this role will be required to possess a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Leading a team of Special Investigators to conduct investigations related to reducing youth access to tobacco and electronic delivery system products as required by federal and state statutes/regulations.
  • Overseeing the tobacco compliance inspection program, staff, and the tobacco merchant education program.
  • Addressing statewide Synar activities, a federal program that works to reduce the sale and distribution of tobacco products to persons under the age of 21.
  • Monitoring and ensuring all Synar activities and State tobacco compliance is analyzed on a monthly, quarterly and semi-annually to provide view of the Synar data for the state as well as to meet federal reporting requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Seven (7) years of investigatory experience in health care, insurance claims, law enforcement or a regulatory field.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE

Three (3) years of the General Experience must have been investigating complaints at the level of a Special Investigator.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED

  • College training in law enforcement, health care or a closely related field may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
  • A Master's degree in a closely related field may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience.
