We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join our team. Under the direction of the Controller, the Accountant will oversee more than 1,100 troop bank accounts and manage all cash receipts from retail, troops, GSUSA, and other sources. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing multiple financial tasks and possess strong analytical skills.

Day in the Life:
Troop Banking Management:
- Serve as the primary contact for all Troop, Service Unit, and Day Camp bank account inquiries.
- Oversee all activities related to Troop Banking, including opening and disbanding accounts, updating check signers, and maintaining a comprehensive database of all troop accounts.
- Update banking guidelines and provide periodic volunteer training.
- Communicate with bank and other financial partner representatives.
Retail Transactions:
- Record daily retail transactions and collaborate with the Retail Director to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Prepare monthly inventory reconciliations and assist with the annual physical inventory process.
Financial Analysis & Reporting:
- Provide account analysis and reconciliations as requested and assist with various projects.
- Research accounts with negative balances, determine issues and solutions, and escalate unresolved issues to the Controller for further action.
- Post investment activity to the general ledger monthly and prepare roll forwards and various analyses.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly and semi-annual sales tax filings.
- Assist in preparing ACH draft files for Fall Sale and Cookie Sale programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Two or more years of bookkeeping or accounting experience in nonprofit accounting or a similar work environment.
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office. Must be proficient in pivot tables and advanced formulas. Abila MIP Fund Accounting and Salesforce experience a plus.
- Strong organization, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
