About Us:

As a mobile food market, Jeffco Eats is a dynamic and passionate organization dedicated to combating food insecurity within our community. We are a year-round, weekend food program provider in partnership with the Food Bank of Rockies and the Jefferson County Department of Education. We believe that everyone deserves access to nutritious food, and we work tirelessly to create sustainable solutions to alleviate hunger. Our programs focus on community engagement, resource mobilization, and advocacy to address the root causes of food insecurity.

Our mission is to ensure no child in Jefferson County's Title One and GAP schools goes hungry; our programs extend to Lakewood, Edgewater, Wheat Ridge, and Arvada; serving not just the students but also their families.

Position Overview:

As the Executive Director, you will play a pivotal role in leading our organization toward the achievement of its mission to eradicate food insecurity. This position requires a visionary leader with strong strategic and operational skills, a passion for social impact, and the ability to foster collaboration amongst diverse investors, board members, staff and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a strategic vision to guide the organization in addressing food insecurity effectively across a growing number of programs. Lead the development and execution of long-term plans.

Board Development and Engagement: Establish board communication cadence and framework. Attend monthly financial meetings with the Treasurer and Accountant. Maintain organizational SOPs and reports on fundraising, cashflow, staffing, etc. Work with the board to move Jeffco Eats from a Stage One Non Profit to a Stage Two Operation. Maintain relationship with Grant Writer.

Staff and Volunteer Acquisition: Define staff / volunteer needs, recruit, hire, onboard, mentor and train team committed to excellence. Report to board operational budget, staffing needs, resource development plans and accomplishments.

Program Management: Oversee and enhance existing programs while identifying opportunities for new initiatives to expand the organization's impact on alleviating hunger in Jefferson County. Review and implement food safety and regulations for a mobile food market.

Fundraising and Resource Mobilization: Lead efforts to secure funding through grants, donations, and partnerships. Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and community supporters to ensure financial sustainability. Manage relationships with local bank to get debit cards, wire transfers, account services to fund operations.

   

 Manage Budget: Establish, approve and manage food and department budgets. Maintain federal and state budgets with restricted funds compliance.

Community Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, partner organizations, and other stakeholders. Collaborate with local agencies to create a unified approach to tackling food insecurity.

Advocacy and Awareness: Be a vocal advocate for policies and initiatives that address the root causes of food insecurity. Raise awareness about Jeffco Eats mission and impact within the community and beyond.

Operational Excellence: Ensure efficient day-to-day operations, including budget management, program evolution and evaluation and reporting. Develop buying and budget processes and procedures. Provide an annual food budget and coaching on program management with Food Bank of the Rockies. Lead team meetings for staff and coach on having their own team meetings - establish immediate, short term and long term goals across departments.

Team Leadership: Provide inspirational leadership to a dedicated team of staff and volunteers. Foster a collaborative, safe, happy and inclusive environment that encourages professional growth and development. Supervise Operations Manager and Volunteer Coordinator and provide executive oversight of their teams.

Brand Champion: Develop presentations and secure speaking engagements to promote Jeffco Eats mission. Ensure up to date Website, marketing collateral and strong social media presence focus on thought leadership, community engagement, fundraising and recruiting. Attend in person and zoom meetings with critical organizations such as the Jeffco Pantry Hub, City Council, Kiwanis, Rotary, hunger advocacy groups and the Colorado NonProfit Association.

Warehouse Procurement: Ensure consistent access to a warehouse for storing food and program management. Maintain relationship with Lakewood United Methodist Church church; keep lease / contract in compliance; including maintaining use of warehouse in accordance with their standards and keeping up to date with building entry security system and logistics of unhoused population issues.

Qualifications:

-Proven leadership experience in the non-profit sector, particularly in the field of food insecurity

or related social issues.

-Strong strategic thinking and organizational development skills.

-Demonstrated success in fundraising, grant writing and financial management.

-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders.

-Advocacy experience and the ability to effectively communicate the organization's mission to policymakers.

-Commitment to social justice and a deep understanding of the challenges related to food insecurity.
