POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday

Work Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Work Shift: First shift

Location: 184 Windsor Ave, Windsor, CT


WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Reporting to the Commissioner of the Department of Aging and Disability Services, you will be directing the Department's new Bureau of Services for Persons who are Deaf, DeafBlind, or Hard of Hearing to improve communication access and services.

Serving as Administrator to the Board for Persons who are Deaf, Deafblind or Hard of Hearing.

Overseeing ADS employees who provide counseling, interpreting, and other help to people who are deaf, deafblind, or hard of hearing.

Assisting and collaborating with State Agencies on concerns related to persons who are deaf, deafblind, or hard of hearing.

Coordinating education and training initiatives, including, but not limited to, working with local and state public safety and public health officials and first responders on best practices for serving and communicating with deaf, deafblind or hard of hearing persons.

Raising public awareness of programs and services available to deaf, deafblind or hard of hearing persons, and partnering with civic and community organizations that serve these communities.

Performing other related duties, in accordance with Public Act 24-81.
