About Us

RidgeBay is a dedicated Fire and EMS all-hazards, all-risk department serving diverse urban, suburban, and rural communities. Operating 24/7, we collaborate closely with fire and EMS agencies statewide and nationwide, as well as 911 dispatch centers, to ensure timely and effective emergency response. Through mutual aid agreements, including interstate support, we aim to improve response times and address critical gaps in emergency services. In addition to emergency response, we are committed to public education and training to enhance community safety and preparedness. We conduct daily training internally to maintain the highest standards of readiness and coordinate training activities with our partner agencies based on their schedules, inviting them to join us for joint exercises to strengthen collaboration and operational readiness.


Role Summary

The Board President provides strategic leadership to the board members, ensuring effective governance and supporting the organization’s mission to deliver high-quality emergency services and community education. This volunteer position works closely with board members to guide the department’s growth, foster partnerships, and uphold operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate board meetings, ensuring productive discussions and decision-making
  • Ensure the board fulfills governance responsibilities, adheres to legal and ethical standards, and supports mutual aid agreements
  • Represent the organization in the community and with partner agencies, fostering strong collaborative relationships
  • Support fundraising, advocacy, and public education initiatives as needed
  • Foster a positive and engaged board culture, including recruitment and orientation of new members

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of nonprofit board or leadership experience preferred
  • Some college coursework or equivalent professional experience preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including emergency response partners and community members
  • Knowledge of nonprofit governance, emergency services operations, or related fields is a plus
  • Commitment to the mission and values of RidgeBay

Time Commitment

  • Attend regular board meetings (monthly/quarterly)
  • Participate in special events as needed
  • Estimated 3-4 hours per month
