Schedule: Includes after school hours, and school holidays (Bend-La Pine Schools). Other hours are flexible with the ability to do work from home.

Position Overview:
Camp Fire STEM is an excellent opportunity for children to connect in engaging ways with science, technology, engineering and math, see if they find their spark in it, and deepen their learning. They include various programs extending throughout the year, ranging from short robotics and coding sessions, and week-long tech programs, to full-day engineering or seasonal competing robotics teams. Most of the programs are offered directly by Camp Fire, although we also work in partnership with schools and other Central Oregon organizations.
The Coordinator will be responsible for general program management of the Camp Fire STEM programs. They will work closely with the Program Manager to collect program quality data and to develop and expand upon our current offerings in the future.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the current STEM programs and create new ones.
- Design, plan and implement intentional skill-building and social-emotional lesson plans for each session. Plan supplemental activities when needed, especially for the full-day and summer programs: games, songs, nature walks, etc. These activities help balance the intense focus some of the STEM activities require.
- Develop and implement program routines to build community, to grow relationships, to inspire new interests and a sense of purpose, and to incorporate youth voice and leadership.
- Manage a safe physical and emotional space for youth through direct interactions with youth and parents and thoughtful behavior policies, including quickly responding to medical or behavioral incidents.
- Communicate expectations and needs clearly with campers during camp and with parents during and prior to camp.
- Manage organization and ordering of program supplies and cleanliness and maintenance of space.
- Utilize industry best practices to help with peer-to-peer conflict and emotional regulation of campers.
- Responsible for scheduling STEM staff, finding subs as needed and supervising staff while onsite.
- Manage technical equipment and supplies related to the STEM programs.
- Under the direction of the Program Manager, trains new staff on program resources and expectations and helps to develop targeted professional development plans for staff.
Other Job Duties/Expectations:
- Act as main program delivery staff for 6-9 weeks of STEM summer camps
- Serve as added support/staff for Camp Fire events or programs which take place outside of normal work hours, such as staffing outreach events and supporting programs such as Afterschool and No School Day Camps, as needed.
- Perform general office and other various duties essential to operation of a small non-profit such as customer service and special projects based on individual skills.

Understanding of tactical and logistical needs of a successful youth program, organized. willing to take initiative and ask for help when needed, able to respond to situations or changes calmly and with flexibility.
- Project management skills: planning, organizing and executing projects effectively. Ability to envision development of new ideas and new programs while also refining current program structure to meet demand.
- Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in related field (Ex: education, non-profit management); or 3+ years experience managing, planning and executing youth programs or events; or equivalent combination of education and managing or supervising staff or a team.
- Certificates, Licenses and Registrations: Valid Driver’s License, proof of COVID vaccine or medical exemption.
- Physical Demands: Employee will be walking, standing, running, bending, crouching or stooping. Employee will occasionally lift light and heavy objects. For some programs, employee must be able to spend the majority of time outdoors and tolerate a variety of weather conditions.
Compensation: $21.00-24.00/per hour depending on experience
