Our team of teachers are enthusiastic and passionate about developing and implementing Monarch’s preschool program alongside our nature-based emergent program that promotes whole-child development for children ages 3-4. Teachers are expected to carry out a daily program that is designed to meet the physical and developmental needs of children, be able to support and supervise their teacher aide(s), facilitate supportive relationships with Director, administrators, co-workers, parents, and students. Creative methods and teaching styles are valued and appreciated. Monarch supports teachers in attending workshops and professional development.


Monarch Learning Academy (www.monarchlearningacademy.com) is a Christ-Centered Preschool that applies the Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences, understanding that children learn in a variety of ways. Visual, spatial, musical, and naturalistic experiences hold equal court with traditional analytical and linguistic activities. This learner-centered approach places the spotlight on student development and advancement instead of attempting to fit children into templates for the sake of convenience.


Monarch Learning Academy is seeking two lead teachers to work with pre-school students from 8a-4pm in our dynamic, nature-based preschool that is recognized in the College Park community as a prime example of prestigious early childhood education. One open position will work with our 2 year old class and the other open position will work with our 3 year old class. The full time position will include lead teacher responsibiities, planning time and aftercare responsibilities.


Job responsibilities listed below:

  • Ensure the safety of each child enrolled in the class, on the playground, and common areas, to
  • Support a Christ-filled learning environment
  • Facilitate potty training, teach students to wash hands, and ensure students are hydrated.
  • Candidates must Maintain well-defined Learning Centers: Science, Art, Writing, Reading, Building, and Drama Centers
  • Submit weekly progress, updates and photos on SeeSaw.
  • Maintain regular observations and evaluations of children’s development and progress as directed by and to the Director.
  • Plan and implement age and developmentally appropriate lesson plans in all areas of whole child development of cognitive, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual needs of young children.
  • Implement and maintain pacing expectations in regard to the 3yo academic curriculum including, but not limited to Handwriting Without Tears, Math Concepts, Phonetic Awareness and Jounaling.
  • Complete weekly lesson plans that include whole-child development, class newsletter, and plan and implement nature-based learning.
  • Implement daily Circle Time that is developmentally appropriate.
  • Encourage development in areas of self-confidence, problem solving, social skills, independence, and responsibility.
  • Interact with children daily through the required curriculum including circle time, instructional time, snack, centers, lunchtime, nature school and recess.
  • Communicate weekly with parents with a class newsletter.
  • Develop and maintain a classroom management strategy that clearly communicates expectations to students and parents, as well as consequences for misbehavior.
  • Hold Fall and Spring parent/teacher conferences.
  • Return and maintain positive parent communication that include face-to-face time, phone calls/text messages/emails within 24 hours.

Additionally, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Experience working with preschool age children
  • Successful completion or commitment to enroll in DCF 45 hours of childcare training.
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings, preplanning sessions, and workshops.
  • Able to use a computer and Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Complete 10 hours of in-service professional growth training per year.
  • Take coursework to obtain and maintain preschool teacher certification (CDA).
  • Maintain infant/child CPR and First Aid certification every 2 years.
