Organization: Wasatch Mountain Institute (WMI), a Salt Lake City- and Park City-based
501(c)3 organization founded in 2019, provides powerful, hands-on environmental education
and outdoor recreation to Utah students, families, and communities at Jordanelle State Park’s
Rock Cliff Nature Center. WMI is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all the

About the job: WMI’s Board of Directors is seeking a dynamic, experienced Executive Director
to oversee management, development, and advancement of the organization’s mission,
programs, and goals. The ED serves as the face of WMI, representing and leading the
organization in a consistently positive, professional, and inspiring manner. An excellent ED will
execute all areas of need for WMI, including fiscal, administrative, operational, program
development, staff management and development, communications, and board relations.
Responsibilities:
● Work with the WMI Board of Directors to carry out WMI’s strategic plan
● Lead fundraising efforts to fulfill WMI's obligations and commitments and grow the
organization.
● Maintain and enhance WMI's existing partnerships with school districts, private schools,
youth organizations, corporations, government entities, etc.
● Cultivate new financial and political support from individuals, corporations,
organizations, foundations, and governmental entities
● Build strong relationships with WMI’s existing staff, and identify and train new
professional and enthusiastic staff members as needed
● Manage all WMI operations including program and project development and staff
activities
● Oversee finances and comply with all Federal, IRS and State and local regulations
Required Skills:
● A deep-seated passion for sharing environmental education and outdoor recreation with
children, especially those who attend Title I and majority-minority schools
● Proven experience as an Executive Director or in other managerial position(s)
● Grant writing and fundraising experience
● Strong business and/or nonprofit financial management skills
● Outstanding leadership and organization abilities
● Excellent communication (oral and written) and public speaking skills
Job Type: Full-time, remote/in-person hybrid, with occasional weekend and evening functions
and meetings required. Candidates must live in Salt Lake, Summit or Wasatch counties. Travel
is required.
Pay: $45,000-$50,000 per year, DOE
