Accountant       

                            

Reports to: Director of Accounting                            

Hours:  40 hours per week

Location: Hybrid – In Person at Englewood, CO Headquarters, with ability to work remotely as needed 

Compensation: $55,000 annually plus generous benefits package

Purpose:

Cadence International is an evangelical mission organization dedicated to reaching military communities with the good news of Jesus Christ. The Accountant supports the ministry of Cadence by recording timely and accurate financial information, producing financial reports, account reconciliations, and performing a variety of accounting activities efficiently while promoting and maintaining a strong internal control environment. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Reconciles various bank and investment accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Reconciles various general ledger accounts, subaccounts, or projects and promptly researches and corrects any variances. 
  • Responsible for processing transactions related to foreign bank accounts and producing reports related to foreign bank balances and activities. 
  • Manages all corporate fixed assets by recording acquisitions, depreciation, and disposals and maintaining any appropriate fixed asset documentation.
  • Works closely with HQ staff and field missionaries to monitor the preparation and execution of operating budgets.
  • Prepares and distributes noncash contribution receipts, including any related IRS forms and filings.
  • Manages the application and renewal of various state registrations.
  • Posts internal transfers and participates in monthly and year-end closing and reconciliation procedures.
  • Provides financial reporting and analysis as well as general accounting support to staff and missionaries, as needed. 
  • Provides organizational and financial information to donors, potential donors, and outside organizations upon request.
  • Assists with training and support to missionaries in the area of field accounting, as needed.
  • Prepares various schedules for outside auditors and assists in completion of the annual audit. 

·      Upholds a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when processing all transactions and correspondence both within and outside Cadence.

·      Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • B.A./B.S. degree in accounting, business administration, or similar field. Relevant experience in lieu of education may be considered.
  • At least two years relevant accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Basic knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). 
  • Must have a high comfort level and strong proficiencies with computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Accounting software. Must possess a strong aptitude to learn, plan for, and implement new applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Born-again, mature Christian with an affinity for the mission and work of Cadence International.
  • Because of the distinctly Christian emphasis of Cadence’s mission work, must sign and comply with Cadence International’s Code of Christian Conduct.
  • Must join departmental staff in periodic prayer times for the needs of the mission and to attend the weekly headquarters chapel held during work hours.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including a positive attitude, willingness to help resolve issues, and ability to work effectively in a team environment. 
  • Self-motivated, with high initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strengths in administration, multi-tasking, and organizational skills with superior attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a positive attitude and willingness to help.
  • Ability to graciously re-prioritize workload as demands change, and flexibility to meet the needs of a dynamic work environment.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or other accounting certifications a plus.
  • A working knowledge of Sage Intacct Accounting or similar nonprofit accounting software desired.
