Organizational Overview

Trustbridge, a leading community nonprofit organization, was established in 1978, and provides support for families facing serious illness 24 hours a day.  The Trustbridge Hospice Foundation, formerly known as Hospice of Palm Beach County Foundation, Hospice by The Sea Foundation and Hospice of Broward County Foundation, provides overall philanthropic support and funding for the full range of programs and services offered by Trustbridge.  With locations in both Palm Beach and Broward Counties, the Trustbridge Hospice Foundation helps provide critical support for under-funded and unfunded specialized programs, services and treatments that go beyond what is reimbursed by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance. This critical internal funding enables the Foundation to put the needs of patients and families first above all else.

The Trustbridge Hospice Foundation is committed to providing extraordinary care for everyone in the community, including those without insurance coverage or the ability to pay. It is dedicated to raising funds for the programs and services of Trustbridge including comfort care, charitable care, music therapy, pet therapy, adult and children’s bereavement services, children’s camps and more. The Foundation has over $100M in assets with a total staff of 10.

Position Responsibilities

 The Area Director of Philanthropy (ADP) is responsible for the management, development and implementation of fundraising and community outreach special events and programs with a south county focus, as well as responsibility for these activities county-wide. The ADP will be capable of establishing credibility in managing the development function for the county including forging effective relationships with multiple donor sources.

Cultivate individual and corporate donors to determine major gift prospects by working collaboratively with Foundation team; using this team based giving approach, present donors with all giving opportunities to determine best annual gift to include: Event Sponsorships, Namings, Program Support or Endowments.
Create and manage established Signature Events in Palm Beach County by utilizing event committees and community outreach; oversee all third-party events ensuring compliance with Foundation requirements; work collaboratively with team members to cultivate sponsors, retain existing sponsors, achieve event sponsorship and income goals, assist with event logistics and recruit volunteers.
Working closely with the Marketing team, develop and distribute Trustbridge Marketing event related collaterals, PR plans, sponsorship packages and advertising plans; contribute to other collaterals such as newsletters, brochures and website content; maintain overall responsibility for ensuring deadlines and budget metrics are met.
Develop relationships with local corporations to secure and grow employee and corporate engagement with the Foundation; develop sales calls, presentations, and donor stewardship to increase giving and profitability.
Monitor donor information; provide and present accurate and timely statistical analysis; monitor and report monthly on the program progress and dollars raised towards goal/budget; accomplish financial objectives by forecasting, annual budget preparation, analyzing variances and initiating action plans as needed.

Key Position Objectives

In addition to ongoing job responsibilities, the Area Director of Philanthropy will be expected to plan for and achieve the following.

Secure Major Gifts totally $350K annually within 18 months.
Recruit and manage a fundraising committee and deliver successful “Chefs Showdown” event(s).
Manage and create events for the County that produce $300K (net) annually within 18 months

 Position Qualifications

The Area Director of Philanthropy position requires at least 5 to 7 years of relevant, increasingly responsible experience in a major nonprofit or similar organization. This will include at least 5+ years of proven success in a multi-program development function and forging and managing lasting relationships with multiple donor sources. Specific qualifications include but are not limited to:

 At least 5 - 7 years of experience to include fundraising, donor cultivation and management, event planning and implementation, volunteer recruitment and management, and public speaking experience, preferably in the hospice or healthcare field.
Excellent oral and written communication, and relationship development and management skills; high energy and passion for the mission is essential.
Proven experience (in Boca Raton/Palm Beach County) in expanding and cultivating existing and new donor relationships.
Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
The ability to work effectively and collaboratively with the entire Foundation team and relate well to both internal and external customers.
Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or equivalent database fundraising software preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, business administration or a related field; Any industry certifications would be a plus.
