Choir Teacher (K–5)
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Choir Teacher to lead vocal music classes for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The ideal candidate is energetic, child-centered, and excited to inspire young singers through engaging lessons and a strong sense of play.
Qualifications & Ideal Traits:
- Experience working with elementary-aged students (K–5) on Mondays
- A genuine passion for teaching music and nurturing young voices
- Ability to teach a variety of musical styles and genres
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Creativity in lesson planning, with a focus on fun, skill-building, and confidence
- Ability to prepare students for a performance within a seven-week session
Responsibilities
- Teach engaging voice, music and lead a choir for elementary-aged students.
- Create a positive, supportive, and fun classroom environment.
- Collaborate with SODE staff and school faculty to ensure smooth program delivery.
- Incorporate creativity, cultural respect, and educational values into lessons.
- Follow school district rules and uphold SODE’s standards of excellence.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of prior teaching experience (required).
- Strong classroom management skills; patient, creative, and team-oriented.
- Passion for education, culture, and working with children.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must clear a Live Scan fingerprint background check.
- Provide two letters of recommendation.
- Available weekly at 8:00 AM during the contract period.
- Interest in long-term growth with the company.
- Contract begins in March 2026
Compensation & Training
- Paid training at minimum wage.
- Teaching rate starts at $70/hour (based on experience).
Contract Details
- Part-time, contract position.
- Once per week, approximately 3 hours per week.
- 7 week commitment.
