Job Title: Magic and Circus Teaching Artists (K–5)

SODE School of Performing Arts, a nonprofit organization, has been inspiring students across Los Angeles for over 15 years through innovative arts education. We partner with schools and communities to bring high-quality music, dance, theater, and visual arts programs to children of all backgrounds.


Qualifications & Ideal Traits:

  • Experience working with elementary-aged students (K–5) on Mondays starting in March
  • A genuine passion for teaching magic and circus and nurturing young performers
  • Ability to teach a variety of different tricks and styles 
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Creativity in lesson planning, with a focus on fun, skill-building, and confidence
  • Ability to prepare students for a performance within a seven-week session

  • Responsibilities
  • Teach engaging magicians and circus performers for elementary-aged students.
  • Create a positive, supportive, and fun classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with SODE staff and school faculty to ensure smooth program delivery.
  • Incorporate creativity, cultural respect, and educational values into lessons.
  • Follow school district rules and uphold SODE’s standards of excellence.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of prior teaching experience (required).
  • Strong classroom management skills; patient, creative, and team-oriented.
  • Passion for education, culture, and working with children.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must clear a Live Scan fingerprint background check.
  • Provide two letters of recommendation.
  • Available weekly at 2:00PM during the contract period.
  • Interest in long-term growth with the company.
  • Contract begins in March 2026


Compensation & Training

  • Paid training at minimum wage.
  • Teaching rate starts at $70/hour (based on experience).

Contract Details

  • Part-time, contract position.
  • Once per week, approximately 2 hours per week.
  • 7 week commitment.
