Job Description

The Berean Community Center seeks a strategically minded individual with strong leadership skills and a passion for serving the students and families within our community. Berean Community Center, established in 2015,  is a small organization serving its local underserved community and the greater Wake County area.  We provide programs and access to resources and services that impact the holistic well-being of individuals and families.

The Executive Director (ED) reports to the Board of Directors (BOD) and is responsible for implementing policies established by the BOD, establishing and executing major goals and objectives for the organization and has overall day-to-day operational responsibility for the organization.  The ED represents the organization to the community, donors funders, supporters and the general public.

Qualifications/Skills

BA/BS in Nonprofit Management, Business or related field
5+ years of experience
Grant Writing and Fundraising experience
Embraces diversity and inclusion
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Canva
Ability to use Virtual Meeting Platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.)
Professionalism
Proficient verbal and written communication

Duties and Responsibilities

General

Directs and oversees short and long term strategic plans
Attends board meetings and provides support to the BOD
Develops and implements operational plans, policies and goals
Maintains official records and documents and ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations
Maintains a working knowledge of developments and trends in the field
Builds, supervises and maintains a culture which attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse team of staff and volunteers

Financial

Ensures accurate and complete financial and accounting records
 Prepares Annual Report with BOD

Human Resources

Leads, coaches, and develops staff to ensure a well-working team
Ensures that job descriptions are current
Conducts performance appraisals
Implements corrective action as needed

Fundraising

Expands and maintains fundraising activities to support the center's mission
Targets and develops grant proposals
Manages fundraising campaigns and donor cultivation generating a minimum of 10% of salary

Position Benefits

Part-time (20-29 hrs. weekly)
Some evening and weekend hours
Work schedule 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with some flexibility
Work remotely mostly (laptop provided)
Most holidays off
