The Mountains to Sound Greenway National Heritage Area (Greenway NHA) stretches 100 miles from the shores of Puget Sound, across the Cascade Mountains, to Central Washington along the I-90 corridor. The Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust (Greenway Trust) is dedicated to conserving and enhancing the Greenway NHA by collaborating and building coalitions with diverse entities including governments, Tribes, nonprofits, businesses, and communities. Together, we seek to steward this landscape, to honor the historical and cultural significance of the Greenway NHA, and to preserve and celebrate its living heritage.
Role and Responsibilities:
The National Heritage Area Coordination Manager (NHA Coordination Manager) builds partnerships and organizes coalitions that align with the Greenway Trust mission and contribute to organizational goals for the Greenway NHA. This is a highly collaborative position that will involve communicating and coordinating among many external partners and internal colleagues, organizing large meetings and events, and building collaborative relationships. The NHA Coordination Manager will play an especially important role in strengthening relationships with Tribes, developing new partnerships focused on interpretation and historic preservation, and promoting public engagement in the Greenway NHA.
Specific responsibilities of the NHA Coordination Manager include:
Organizing forums regarding natural resource management, interpretation and education, and historic preservation where agencies, Tribes, and other organizations can identify common objectives and create a framework for working together.
Organizing an annual NHA Summit where partners and the public can share accomplishments and input about the Greenway NHA.
Communicating with active and prospective partners about cooperative activities, opportunities, and achievements as a means of building coalition and supporting collaboration within the NHA.
Tracking and reporting on budgets, workplans, partnerships and projects associated with Federal financial support to the Greenway NHA.
Participating in and contributing to organization-wide efforts such as communications; fundraising; major events; diversity, equity, and inclusion training, etc.
Qualifications:
Relevant skills and experience for this position include: organizing events, building coalitions, cultivating relationships with diverse organizations, working with Tribes, working with historically marginalized communities, carrying out collaborative projects, and managing multiple projects simultaneously. We do not expect an applicant to have every one of these skills or experiences, though we do expect them to have a learning mindset and to demonstrate an aptitude for developing new skills on the job. Given the Greenway Trust’s emphasis on collaboration and partnership, we also expect applicants to be able to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues and with partners, some of whom may hold different opinions and perspectives.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: The Greenway Trust is committed to promoting greater diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the Greenway NHA and within our own organization and all aspects of our work. Every Greenway Trust employee is expected to play an active part in carrying out this commitment within the organization and beyond. Candidates should expect to discuss their experience or interest in incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion principles into their work or personal work ethic.
