Location: 1327 Sullivant Ave Columbus, OH 43223 (Flexible remote as convenient)

Type: Full-time, Salary

Compensation: $52,000 - $65,000 annually

Reports to: Executive Director

Direct Reports: Workshop Leaders, Afterschool Program Coordinator, Afterschool Program Facilitators, Afterschool Program Assistants

The Director of Programs is responsible for the creation, implementation and management of all WAV workshops and programs. All youth and adult programs/workshops are based in the creative arts and music, influenced heavily by social-emotional learning and grounded in inclusion, diversity and the healing of communities. Programs include grant funded afterschool, in-school and summer programming for middle school students and a variety of short-term workshops for vulnerable adult populations. The Director of Programs will oversee all workshops and will also lead workshops on their own. They are responsible for managing all workshop leaders, lead facilitators, program assistants and a program coordinator. Strong management and leadership skills are required.


Responsibilities

● Develop the curriculum and vision for all workshops and programs.

● Ensure that all workshop leaders and program staff are properly trained.

● Research new content and ideas to add to existing workshops and for the development of new workshops.

● Oversee the progress of current workshops and programs through conversations with program staff, video content and in-person observation.

● Serve as the direct manager for all workshop and program staff.

● Collaborate with the Director of Operations on the hiring and onboarding of any new program staff.

● Lead workshops in collaboration with others and on their own.

● Assist Director of Visual Storytelling in collection of recorded content from workshops and programs.

● Oversee the collection and reporting of participant data from workshops and programs in collaboration with program staff.

● Collaborate with Executive Director, Director of Operations, and Director of Visual Storytelling on project development, marketing and distribution.

● Responsible for developing and soliciting funding for agency initiatives, in conjunction with the Executive Director.

● Collaborate with Director of Operations to develop the operations and vision for all programs.

● Collaborate with Executive Director and Director of Operations to complete program reporting.

● Work to maintain the company culture alongside the Executive Director, Director of Operations, and Director of Visual Storytelling.

● Perform other related duties as assigned, within the scope of this role.


Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Exceptional listening skills
  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills required.
  • Experience in facilitating and moderating conversations around personal and sensitive topics.
  • Computer literate with knowledge including but not limited to Microsoft 365 (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.), Zoom, and Spotify.
  • Willingness to step in when/where needed in order to help workshops succeed.
  • 10+ years of experience in education and/or personal/professional development.
  • Experience working with low-income underserved middle school-aged youth preferred.
  • Familiarity with youth development principles and middle school-aged youth preferred.
  • Experience working with vulnerable adult populations preferred.
  • Possession of a valid Ohio driver’s license is required.
  • Cleared Criminal History and Fingerprint Check
