Salesforce Consultant with Project Manager Inclinations

Pedal Lucid

Job Description

About Pedal Lucid

We help organizations increase the quality and quantity of data-driven decisions by improving the intersection of human and technology systems. Our particular focus is using CRM (Salesforce) data to measure, understand, and grow engagement for nonprofits in the outdoor recreation and conservation sector; and we also service for-profit B2B businesses with long sales cycles and multi-touch attribution needs.

We are fully remote and committed to a positive and sustainable life/work balance, with an emphasis on flexibility and a sub-40-hour work week.

About the Role

The time commitment for this position is flexible and could be filled by either a part-time (20 hrs/week) or full-time (~30 hrs/week) staff member.

We’re a small team and you will wear several hats with the opportunity to grow into a more specialized role as the team expands (into more of a pure PM focus or consulting focus). That said, the current need in our flexible role structure is a consultant who is excited to take more initiative in the realm of project management and has some degree of background in marketing automation and analytics. Most of our work is iterative and with long-term clients, so there’s not a heavy focus on status updates or sophisticated dependencies.

Our Project Management needs are both granular and big-picture: help improve the accuracy of task-tracking and accountability across all client projects; ensure client-specific roadmaps are up-to-date and realistic; and help evaluate internal capacity for taking on new work while also serving as a member of the service delivery team. Our marketing and analytics needs are somewhat more flexible, but the ideal applicant will be able to lead (or at least grow into leading) solution design and technical configuration in this area.

This role must also be capable of leading smaller/less sophisticated clients in a support role (outsourced Salesforce administrator) and working as part of a team with larger clients. A higher level of technical Salesforce skills (architect/developer) are a plus but not required; all applicants are expected to embrace learning new skills on the job and challenge themselves in a supportive environment. This includes learning new tools and technologies, advancing technical proficiency in areas you’re already familiar with, and a commitment to regular reflection and contributions to continuous improvement of Pedal Lucid’s (PL) internal processes and ways of working.

Travel is not typical but may be encouraged for professional development opportunities and required for an annual staff in-person event.

What You’ll Do

  • Billable client work (approximately 75% of job function):
  • Work with other Pedal Lucid staff, clients, and occasional contractors to improve how client technology systems are used.
  • Think critically about the objectives the client are trying to achieve and help them navigate both human factors and technology systems to get them there
  • Balance skill sets and interests with other PL staff to fulfill business analysis, development, testing, training, and ongoing support needs
  • Lead business requirements gathering sessions with clients
  • Design, build, and test technical solutions on the Salesforce platform and related apps
  • May serve as the primary contact for ongoing support (outsourced admin) accounts, as well is in supporting roles on other accounts
  • Proactively seek new information, techniques, and learn best practices
  • Take a leadership role in ‘resourcing’ or project management across multiple clients with multiple PL staff members
  • Help set realistic expectations for work-in-progress and PL capacity
  • Monitor roadmaps and project framework across multiple clients to ensure accuracy and help hold accountability for both PL staff and clients
  • Be an early voice to surface unrealistic expectations, timelines, and workloads
  • Internal (non-billable) work (approximately 25% of job function):
  • Help to objectively evaluate capacity to take on new work
  • Actively contribute to ongoing discussions and reflection on the work we do and how we can improve, in both regular internal check-ins + strategic planning meetings
  • Share your knowledge and skills with others, both formally and informally
  • Occasionally perform consulting functions internally at PL
  • Ex: evaluate PL workflow & PM process; recommend changes; help make iterative improvements

Requirements

  • Interest in data-driven decision-making and helping humans to use technology systems effectively
  • 3+ years in the Salesforce ecosystem (admin, consultant, etc) with a strong understanding of the platform
  • Demonstrated project management experience that required coordinating with a team and helping to hold others accountable for large-scale technology projects or transformations (hundreds of hours, multiple stakeholders)
  • Home office free of distractions, with reliable high-speed internet and a webcam

Desired Skills/Experience

The ideal candidate will have a mix of the following, but we do not require a candidate to check every box

  • Experience working with technology systems to use data to measure and grow engagement
  • Managed a marketing automation platform (Pardot, SFMC, Hubspot, etc) to track engagement across multiple channels and create a consolidated, multi-touch source of truth in a CRM
  • Worked with a standalone BI tool (Power BI, Tableau, CRM Analytics, etc) to prepare custom datasets, design and build dashboards for executive business insight with an emphasis on marketing an engagement
  • Previous work in a consulting role, either internally or externally
  • Nonprofit background
  • Formal project management training or certifications with a preference for agile methodologies
  • Experience managing people
  • Experience in a training, teaching, or coaching role
  • Salesforce-specific experience:
  • Certifications
  • Expertise in NPSP
  • Comfortable designing, building, and troubleshooting high-performance flows
  • Depth of experience with SFDC integrations and add-ons - webforms; donation platforms; middleware; portals; accounting systems; data warehousing

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation prorated from $85-120k/year range for a 40hrs/week full-time position [$40-58/hr DOE; salary vs hourly structure negotiable]
  • Flexible working hours, generous PTO, 401(k) with employer match

To apply:

Please submit a cover letter, CV/resume, and optionally a writing sample of 2-5 pages to [email protected]

  • Writing sample that shows your ability to concisely communicate, persuade, and/or demonstrate concepts to a non-technical recipient. This is very open-ended, and does not need to be technology related!
