About the Foundation

The Maricopa County Community College District Foundation (MCCCDF) was established in 1997 as the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization designated by the Maricopa County Community College District to receive and manage gifts on behalf of its 10 colleges. The foundation actively seeks contributions from a variety of private sources including individuals, corporations, and foundations and believes that everyone has the opportunity to improve their lives through education. MCCCDF works to fulfill this vision with its mission to boldly impact the community through innovative and strategic partnerships for the growth and benefit of the Maricopa Community Colleges, its students, faculty, and staff.

Summary

The Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, collaborative, Development Officer Independent Contractor to join our growing team dedicated to growing philanthropy. 


Develops and cultivates relationships with individuals, public and private organizations for philanthropic support of the Maricopa Community Colleges. Identifies new relationships to secure major gifts and fundraise for targeted fundraising programs such as Be A Student’s Hero day of giving, Heroes of Education, and the Student Support/Baccalaureate campaign, adhering to best practices in fundraising. 


60% - Develop and cultivate relationships to secure philanthropic support for the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation (MCCF) in support of students and college/District programs. Develop strategies to prospect, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors for targeted fundraising efforts in assigned industries. Manage a portfolio of 25-50 active major gift prospects to develop and execute strategies leading to a major gift solicitation. Contribute to achieving the revenue goals established by the Foundation in collaboration with the Resource Development Council.


30%- Collaborate with the colleges, Development Officers, administrators, faculty and staff to advance major gift strategies including multi-college collaborations to generate revenue. Build and steward partnership opportunities with organizations and companies based on their philanthropic interests and fundraising priorities for MCCF. 


10% - Responsible for achieving fundraising metrics including high impact contacts with prospects, proposals submitted, and dollars raised. Timely processing of donor and account information for entry into Raiser’s Edge, for monthly and quarterly benchmarks.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and 3-5 years of successful development experience coordinating various fundraising campaigns and activities, preferably in higher education


OR


An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.


Desired Qualifications

- Three or more years of demonstrated success in personally implementing cultivation strategies that use a relationship-building and moves management approach leading to successful major gift solicitations.


- Three or more years with demonstrated success in fundraising campaigns for higher education.


- Three or more years’ experience in stewardship activities leading to additional gifts/investments.


- Collaborative style, combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment.


- Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and by phone.
