Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA) seeks a Navigator for its Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Eviction Grant. This full-time position is responsible for eligibility screening for legal services and rental assistance referrals for clients facing eviction. Candidates must demonstrate strong people skills and flexibility.
Essential Job Duties
• Answering income calls
• Conduct initial screening of calls and make the appropriate referrals
• Determine the legal aspect of the caller’s problem and summarize the issue
• Enter data into our case management system
• Input data from telephone, paper and/or online applications
• Develop and maintain knowledge of legal and social service agencies that can help both eligible and ineligible applicants
• Provide grant management support including tracking applications, data entry, and preparing various reporting logs
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Minimum Qualifications
• Associate Degree or equivalent educational experience, or such worked deemed equivalent by JALA
• English/Spanish bilingual preferred but not required
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong listening and interpersonal skills
• High degree of computer data entry proficiency and accuracy
• Proficient at the use of technology, including but not limited to, email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and internet-based programs
• Willingness to learn and further develop technology skills
• Dependability, initiative and motivation, and concern for the interest of the client
• Commitment to provide high quality legal assistance to low-income people in Northeast Florida

Salary/Benefits
Salary commensurate with experience.
