Organization: Center for Responsible Forestry (CRF)

The goal of CRF is to permanently conserve mature, structurally complex “legacy forests” on WA State forest lands managed by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). We define legacy forests as mature forests that were typically logged prior to World War II and left to grow back on their own (naturally regenerated).


Location:  Remote/in person hybrid. An ideal candidate would live in Western WA in the South Puget Sound, Northwest, or Olympic region (see map).


Hours: 30 per week. 


Salary: Commensurate with experience. Starting range is $2400-3000/month. This is currently a contracted position but could become a staff position later this year if that is desired.

About The Position:

The Communications Coordinator will work with CRF’s team to effectively share our goals and campaigns with our network, donors, and WA State residents. They will be supporting CRF in executing its new campaign to educate WA residents about the importance of legacy forests and what they can do to protect them.


Job Responsibilities: 

  • Write emails and newsletters
  • Update and manage website
  • Manage social media accounts
  • Use volunteer-created video and images to create social media content
  • Execute CRF’s fundraising plan
  • Communicate with donors
  • Write and manage grants
  • Attend staff and coalition meetings
  • Collaborate with CRF team to execute a public education campaign, including effective messaging


Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated and strategic, with experience handling multiple priorities and maintaining attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively with CRF Staff and form strong working partnerships with other organizations
  • High standards for honesty, integrity, and followthrough
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Experience updating and managing websites, Wix is preferred 
  • experience using design platforms such as Canva and PowerPoint
  • Experience managing social media accounts and creating content
  • Experience writing grant proposals
  • Interest in forest ecology and conservation
  • A valid drivers’ license and reliable vehicle
