The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) seeks a dynamic Associate Director of Finance.
Located in New York City, LRF is the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted to funding innovative research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives, and patient services. The Foundation’s mission is to eradicate lymphoma and serve those impacted by the disease.

LRF is dedicated to finding a cure for lymphoma, the most common form of blood cancer, by funding biomedical research and supporting the next generation of lymphoma researchers. About the Opportunity
LRF seeks a talented and experienced professional to join as Associate Director of Finance. The position is based at the LRF New York City office and reports to the Senior Director of Finance. Please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Foundation staff are working remotely; when the office re-opens it is expected that all New York-based staff will work in the office.
The Associate Director will report to the Senior Director of Finance and will assist with development of internal control policies, procedures, and financial planning.
Key Responsibilities
General
•Process daily deposit via in-house scanner/reconcile daily deposits
• Daily posting of batches from RE to FE in compliance with GAAP
• Bi-monthly posting of Blackbaud Merchant Service credit card transactions and related fees
• Weekly, bi-monthly, and monthly posting from third party payment sites
• Bi-monthly research and posting of electronic fund transfers
• Monitor bank activity for timely posting
• Monthly reconciliation of RE and FE
• Monthly reconciliation of posting to bank statement for bank reconciliation
• Preparation of journal entries
• Monthly closing and reporting
• Year-end audit and analysis
Programs
• Maintaining LOA tracking schedule
• Revenue recognition decision tree processing and documentation
• Preparing adjusting entries as needed
• Recording deferred entries as needed
• Maintain deferred schedule
• Maintain decision tree schedule
• Oversight of recording with GAAP and LOA
Accounts Receivable/Pledge Management
• Develop policies and procedures in collaboration with the DC
• Record accounts and pledges receivable with fully documented support
• Maintain receivable schedule to ensure payment completion
• Liaison with respective department for collection
• Write-off receivable and recording of bad-debt expense as needed per policy
• Maintain bad-debt and write off schedules
Grant Oversight
• Manage grant payments and schedule
Investment Oversight
•Manage investment activity and schedule
Payroll
•Payroll processing and oversight
• On-boarding and off-boarding of staff
• Manage all payroll/tax/PTO questions
• Recording of all payrolls related entries including the monthly payroll allocations
• Reconciliation of payroll expenses to the Quarterly statements
• Payroll compliance including posters, regulations, new laws
• Pensions processing and maintaining document
• Compliance reporting for year-end related to payroll and retirement fund
• Year-end filing of compliance reports
Other
• Assist with the daily transactions and posting
• Assist with special projects or other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration with an emphasis in accounting, or a related field
• Previous extensive professional experience as deputy director of finance, accounting supervisor, or manager in a dynamic environment; experience with non-profit/ exempt organization accounting preferred
• Previous supervision experience of accounting staff and highly skilled at staff management, coaching and development
• Expert Knowledge and understanding of all aspect of nonprofit accounting including finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Ability to set and meet deadlines, and work flexibility within a fast-moving environment
• Excellent computer skills: Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and Financial Edge preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills
• Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work well with senior staff members and organization leadership, as well as mentor/lead other team members
