Mobile Pantry Coordinator
Wilkinsburg Community Ministry has a part time position as Assistant or Co-Mobile Pantry Coordinator open. In 2022, WCM initiated a pilot program with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank to bring pantry services to several urban neighborhoods. We have a 27 foot step van that parks in up to 5 neighborhoods a week and distributes food. Each site is chosen based on its accessibility (or lack of it), and its proximity to neighborhoods where our services are needed.
Job Summary: This is a new position developed around the above pilot program. The Mobile Pantry Coordinator will be responsible for the daily operations of a year-round mobile pantry serving low-income neighborhoods. The Coordinator will function as the mobile pantry’s point of contact for vendors, clients and community partners and will represent the mobile pantry to the community. The Coordinator reports to the Executive Director, who reports to the Board of Directors of the agency. The Store Front pantry has its own Coordinator.
Duties and Responsibility: What will you do?
Work with the Executive Director to identify and maintain food inventory
Direct stocking and storage of food on the mobile pantry and in the mobile pantry warehouse; insure that items are current and, if necessary, fresh.
With assistance from the Executive Director, develop and maintain good working relationships with neighbors, community partners, colleagues, vendors, stake holders and volunteers
Identify numbers of volunteers needed at each stop and collaborate with local community partners to insure enough volunteers are available. Provide direction to onsite volunteers
Manage logistics of each stop: set up, safety, signage, etc
Maintain accurate service records of populations served
Maintain accurate service records on vehicle. Coordinate with Pantry Driver for assistance with service.
The Mobile Pantry Coordinator reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for the following general activities:
Readiness to operate by noon Monday – Friday; the shelves are stocked, the stock room is neat and tidy, and the truck is serviced and ready to go.
Are there are enough staff/volunteers to conduct daily business
Are the volunteers trained and ready to assist? Supervises or conducts General Office Administration, including the training hourly staff and volunteers, scheduling of hourly staff and volunteers
Completes special projects as assigned by the Executive Director
Weekend hours (specifically Saturdays) will be required).
Basic requirements:
Pleasant demeanor, good phone manners,
Competence with Microsoft computer systems; ability to learn some points of Sales Force for NonProfits
Ability to train staff and volunteers in job assignments and to identify areas for future training.
Must be able to keep accurate records
Good time management skills
Clean Drivers License plus Liability insurance
Ability to lift 20 pounds is extremely helpful.

Basic data analysis and statistics (% of change for example)
Proven ability to manage multiple projects

Wilkinsburg Community Ministry (founded 1968) is a non-profit corporation focused on nutrition and food security in Wilkinsburg, East Homewood, neighboring Penn Hills, Park Place, Regent Square, Swissvale, Edgewood, Braddock Hills. WCM partners with Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
Pay is commensurate with experience and skill sets, although we anticipate the appropriate candidate will justify approximately $20-25 an hour. Initially we would expect a 20-28 hour week, but once the sites are located and established, this may increase. WCM offers a modest package of time off and sick pay, plus paid holidays and two Holy Days.
