Job Description

The Development & Grant Manager will be responsible for overseeing grant administration for Federal, State and Local government grants as well as foundation grants. Duties will include working with Trail Coordinator staff to ensure grant funding is successfully implemented, preparing all grant reports to grantor and monetary record keeping. On site project monitoring and evaluation required.

The position will support the Palmetto Trail annual fundraising campaigns, overseeing donor software, and developing and maintaining on-going relationships with individual donors. 

The position will support and implement marketing and communications plans and strategies including on-line giving, digital communication, key messaging and branding strategies.

Position Responsibilities

Grant Administration

  • Actively cultivate and nurture grantor relationships.  
  • Manage grant expectations, collect and track grant expenses, document trail staff time as it relates to the grant, monitor match requirements.
  • Implement grant requirements pertaining to sponsorship identification, social media, and internal and external media communication.
  • Create interim and final grant reports, as specified by the grantor.

Giving Administration

  • Utilize on-line fundraising software network to support strategic donor cultivation and solicitation.
  • Ensure accurate and timely gift record-keeping, management database, and all records, files, gift processing, pledge reminders and donor acknowledgements.

Fundraising

  • Collaborate with Executive Director and other staff to design and execute Palmetto Trail annual campaigns such as Midland Gives, Giving Tuesday, End of Year Appeal and significant Palmetto Trail milestone marker celebration campaigns.
  • Develop and manage major grant and gift prospect list.

Other responsibilities

  • Participate as appropriate in True to Brew Races, Women’s Outdoor Adventure Weekend, and National Trails Day.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Ability to work as a leader and part of a team. 
  • Grant experience including overseeing implementation of deliverables, tracking finances, and reporting in accordance with internal and external requirements.  
  • Strong organizational skills, and a focus on details.
  • Expert capability to organize and implement strategies toward attainment of target goals and stretch goals.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and fundraising/donor software

Position is 30 hours a week, based in Columbia, SC. Some remote work possible.
