POSITION MISSION: Ensure that all aspects of administration and programming function at a high level by serving as a liaison between Lake Valley Camp and the PEAK Program Center in Milwaukee.

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

  • Serve as a communication liaison for the resident camp by answering incoming calls, taking messages, responding to and distributing emails, and ensuring ongoing communication between PEAK and Lake Valley Camp.
  • Support camp scheduling, camper registration, and family outreach.
  • Monitor documentation of the Summer Food Service Program.
  • Assist with running errands on behalf of camp: post office, grocery runs, medical needs, staff transportation, etc.
  • Maintain inventory of office supplies and place orders as needed, adhering to the summer operations budget.
  • Manage distribution of camp resources including: petty cash, technology, and vehicle keys.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail.

 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • This position is compensated at a rate of $15 per hour, pre-tax.
  • Our summer seasonal staff are paid on a bi-weekly basis.
  • All meals are provided during camp sessions while the employee is on site.

  • You remain calm under pressure and make critical decisions in a quick and logical manner to ensure the safety and well-being of participants and staff.
  • You have an ability to communicate effectively with staff, campers, and their families.

REQUIREMENTS & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Availability: late May to mid August. Typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:30-4:30.
  • A valid driver’s license and clear driving record.
  • Must be at least 18 and/or have a high school diploma or GED to apply.
  • Current age-appropriate CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification (PEAK will provide during staff training if needed).

REPORTING AND RELATIONSHIPS

  • You will report to the Assistant Director of Camp Operations, with additional guidance from the Camp Director and Assistant Director of Camp Programs.
  • You will work closely with the PEAK Operations team in Milwaukee.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS 

  • The camp environment is often hot and rainy. You must be able to work indoors and outdoors for sustained periods of time without air conditioning. 
  • Position requires standing, stooping, sitting, and occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds with or without assistance. 
  • Position requires working some weekends, with time off between camp sessions.
