POSITION MISSION: Ensure that all participants and employees receive the highest quality of health care while at camp.
BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
- Reside on site in shared staff housing, work hours between 8am and 9:30pm on a typical day, and be on call 24 hours a day when assigned in order to serve as a first responder to all medical emergency incidents at camp.
- Develop and implement a working knowledge of the organization’s Standing Treatment Orders and first aid and emergency response procedures.
- With support, provide training for camp employees on daily health surveillance of participants, basic first aid, the organization’s medical policies and procedures, and risk management related to health issues.
- With the Health Manager and/or Camp Nurse, review the health forms of all participants and employees to ensure they are complete and there is a plan for addressing and supporting ongoing medical issues.
- Maintain complete and objective documentation of all medical incidents and health care provided.
- Inventory medical supplies at the health center and first aid kits throughout camp to ensure they are suitable for the administration of healthcare for participants and employees.
- Follow organizational best practices to communicate medical needs between campers, staff, and guardians.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- This position is compensated at a rate of $600 per week, pre-tax.
- Our summer seasonal staff are paid on a bi-weekly basis and are classified as exempt, seasonal employees.

REQUIREMENTS & CERTIFICATIONS
- Availability: Late May to mid August.
- Must be at least 18 and/or have a high school diploma or GED to apply.
- A valid driver’s license and clear driving record.
- Current age-appropriate CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification, Wilderness First Aid, or Certified Nursing Assistant (PEAK will offer basic first aid and CPR certification during staff training).
REPORTING AND RELATIONSHIPS
- You will report to the Health Manager and/or Assistant Director of Camp Operations.
- In addition, you will work directly with the Consulting Nurse and Wellness Manager, and communicate effectively with cabin counselors and other camper support staff.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations with quick movements or strenuous action, to ensure the safety of campers and other staff members.
- The camp environment is often hot and rainy. You must be able to work outdoors for sustained periods of time without air conditioning.
- Position requires standing, stooping, sitting, walking long distances in hilly terrain, and occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds with or without assistance.
- Position requires working weekends and evenings, with time off in between camp sessions.
