POSITION MISSION: The Wellness Manager serves as a trusted member of the camp health and camper support teams in order to keep staff healthy to do their jobs well, and advises camper support staff on personalized strategies and behavior interventions for camp participants.

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

  • Participate in daily check-ins with the camp health and camper support teams to maintain an awareness of staff and camper mental, emotional, and social health (MESH) needs.
  • Consult with camp staff regarding their own MESH needs and make recommendations regarding staff schedules and duties.
  • Provide guidance and training to camp counselors, camper support coordinators, and other staff regarding camper MESH and behavior supports.
  • Intervene with camper behavior or MESH situations and manage them in partnership with cabin staff.
  • Set up individual behavior plans and positive behavior incentive systems for campers.
  • Provide guidance to the Health Manager in their review of the health forms of all seasonal employees to ensure that they are complete and there is a plan for addressing and supporting ongoing MESH needs.
  • Provide guidance to the health care team on questions that arise when they review the health forms of all participants to ensure that they are complete and there is a plan for addressing ongoing MESH needs. 

 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • The base wage for this position is $900 per week, pre-tax.
  • Our summer seasonal staff are paid on a bi-weekly basis and are classified as exempt, seasonal employees.

REQUIREMENTS & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Availability: Late May to mid August 2022. This position requires scheduled hours between 8:00am and 9:30pm on a typical day (including scheduled breaks), with on-call availability to respond to crisis situations as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or related field required.
  • MSW and/or licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Psychologist preferred.
  • Experience working with youth and young adults aged 9-25 preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of trauma-informed care best practices.
  • Current age-appropriate CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification (PEAK will offer basic first aid and CPR certification during staff training).

REPORTING AND RELATIONSHIPS

  • You will report to the Assistant Director of Camp Operations with additional direction from the Camp Director, as needed. 
  • You will provide direction to the Camper Support Coordinator(s). 
  • You will work closely with the Consulting Nurse, Health Manager, Health Assistant(s), and/or Camp Counselors.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS 

  • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations with quick movements or strenuous action, to ensure the safety of campers and other staff members.
  • The camp environment is often hot and rainy. You must be able to work indoors and outdoors for sustained periods of time without air conditioning. 
  • Position requires standing, stooping, sitting, walking long distances in hilly terrain, and occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds with or without assistance. 
  • Position requires working weekends and evenings, with time off in between camp sessions.
