Organization Overview:

The Indianapolis Children’s Choir (ICC) is a professional children’s choir serving approximately 2,500 young singers between the ages of 18 months and 18 years who are enrolled in the ICC’s weekly, in-depth music education programs as well as community outreach programs. Founded in 1986 by Henry Leck, and under the leadership of Artistic Director Joshua Pedde, the ICC nurtures and inspires student achievement through quality music education and the pursuit of artistic excellence in choral music performance. 


Position Summary:

The Development and Community Engagement Associate position will be responsible for supporting the fundraising efforts of the ICC by creating and maintaining connections with our community which includes: attracting new donors, corporate sponsors, and cultivating long-lasting relationships with them; stewarding ongoing relationships with current donors, corporate sponsors, coordinating the annual fund, and planning fundraising events. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Donor and Community Engagement:

  • Support attracting new donors and corporate sponsorships.
  • Manage a portfolio of donors through the stages of discovery, qualification, engagement, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Oversee donor stewardship and plan implementation in collaboration with the Artistic Director and Director of Development & Marketing.
  • Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate sponsors.
  • Secure corporate sponsorships for events as well as concert season sponsorships. 
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with corporate sponsors.


Annual Fund: 

  • Support of annual fund efforts, including various gift programs, mailed and electronic appeals, and content for development materials for inclusion in e-newsletters, website, and social media.
  • Oversee donor stewardship and plan implementation in collaboration with the Director of Development & Marketing.
  • Support ICC donor clubs, including special mailings, briefings, fulfilling premiums, and coordinating with other development team members on upgrade strategies for donor club members.
  • Create, implement, and manage projects in Asana task management system and use Bloomerang (or have similar experience with other donor databases) software to track and engage donors and prospects.


Events: 

  • Work closely with the Artistic Director and Director of Development & Marketing to support the planning and implementation of the organization’s fundraising and community awareness events.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of annual fundraising events, including the Big Fun Event (annual gala), Sing-A-Thon, and the ICC Polo Party at Sunset with registration management, corporate sponsorship, raffles and silent/live auctions, logistical support, other administrative tasks, and staffing.


Other duties as assigned:

  • Work directly with the ICC’s Alumni Association and attend all meetings and necessary programs. 
  • Attend collaborative staff meetings, trainings, and other meetings as assigned.
  • Staff concerts, camps, workshops, and other program related activities for the ICC, as needed.
  • Assist as needed with administrative and operational tasks related to the ICC’s day-to-day operations.
  • Assist the Director of Development & Marketing with fundraising tasks to support the overall goals of the organization.


Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred. Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of successful experience in outward facing roles such as development, communications, and/or sales. 


A successful candidate will have:

  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills in addition to excellent written and oral communication. Problem-solving, research and analytical skills. Strong information gathering and writing skills to be able to complete correspondence, provide accurate information, and respond to questions from donors, granting organizations, and other entities. Strong grasp of technology, including project management and database systems. Attention to detail and organization. Ability to work with minimal supervision, taking responsibility for moving tasks forward. Must be able to handle confidential and sensitive information. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products with a key focus on Word, Excel, and Outlook; proficiency in use of constituent databases such as Bloomerang.

Salary Description

$50,000 - $52,000 per year
