POSITION SUMMARY

The ISTH Programs and SSC Coordinator is responsible for supporting the ongoing work of the Scientific and Standardization Committee (SSC) and as well as providing administrative support for the ISTH Guidelines and Guidance Committees.

The SSC is the primary scientific body of the ISTH on matters related to standardization, nomenclature and guidance on treatment for conditions related to thrombosis and haemostasis. The SSC is made up of 20 topical subcommittees that work to address the clinical and research challenges of the thrombosis and haemostasis community. The ISTH SSC headquarters team provides the necessary support to ensure the SSC projects and meetings run efficiently.

The ISTH Guidance and Guidelines Committee oversees the Society’s program to create clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) and oversees the publication of SSC guidance documents.

The coordinator will work independently within defined schedules to accomplish a variety of complex and routine activities to move key education and committee initiatives forward.





Job Duties

Key Responsibilities SSC:

Provide the day-to-day support to the work of the ISTH Scientific and Standardization Committee (SSC) and its Subcommittees by supporting the programs and activities of each committee as needed through correspondence, scheduling and providing information

Responsible for the daily/weekly communication with SSC leadership with the ability to answer questions regarding ongoing Subcommittee projects

Support the ongoing projects of the SSC Executive Committee and Subcommittees coordinating annual meetings, website management as well as drafting weekly, monthly and yearly correspondence as needed

Support the SSC projects and ongoing registries by yearly tracking through the ISTH website and file server

Coordinate the SSC Subcommittees yearly change-over in leadership, providing support in sending out formal communications as well as tracking ongoing work, official manuscripts and funding requests

Key Responsibilities Guidance and Guidelines:

Support the ongoing work and respective projects and initiatives of the Guidelines and Guidance Committees coordinating conference calls, annual meetings and reports

Support panel meeting logistics by coordinating calendars and supporting travel support through the Society’s travel agent

Maintain the guidelines webpages to update links, resources and materials produced from published guidelines

Support the Guidelines Manger in the development of online education resources

General Responsibilities:

Provide updates and usage statistics on all SSC and G&G programs, maintain archives of all programs held on the ISTH shared files

Provide support to other Committees and/or ad hoc special projects as they arise, as designated by the Director or Program Manager

Experience with project management software (such as GANNT, Basecamp, or the equivalent) is a plus

Experience with Association Management Software and Content Management Systems is a plus

Ability to operate with minimal direction or oversight; independently prioritize, organize and manage tasks and projects from inception to successful completion while carefully monitoring time and resources

Ability to acquire knowledge of and be able to contribute to Society and Committee activities, as well as work with volunteers to ensure that programs stay on track and goals are met

Familiarity with and ability to apply ISTH rules and procedures

Professional-level commitment, including some evenings and weekends consistent with timing of international meetings; ability to travel domestically and internationally once per year depending on need

Ability to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment

Desire to learn and contribute

Strong multicultural sensitivity

Bi- or multi-linguality is a significant plus







Additional Info

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree preferred

Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a similar role and track record in project or program management, ideally in a scientific/medical association or society and international environment

Work Environment:

It is a primarily sedentary role and may require some bending, lifting and filing.

This position may require minimal national or international travel (1 trip per year)
