The Legacy Project is a youth empowerment and development initiative in Central Ohio. With funding from The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation and The Hagedorn Legacy Foundation, The Legacy Project provides the resources and innovative learning experiences to help high school students identify and achieve their educational and vocational goals. During high school, students will participate in educational experiences that will encourage them to learn, create, achieve and lead. Working one-on-one with an individualized Coach, Legacy students will focus on character strength development and the cultivation of a problem-solving mindset to set and achieve educational and life pursuit goals.
Position Description:
The Legacy Project Coach will empower students to uncover meaningful life pursuits and engage, counsel and guide them through an ongoing journey of goal-setting and goal-accomplishment. The Coach will help ensure that students are achieving their fullest potential in the program. Working in one-on-one coaching sessions and in group settings, the Coach ensures alignment with the overall program, and monitors student skills progression and program participation.
Job Responsibilities:
Facilitate one-on-one coaching sessions and group events Schedule and plan student coaching sessions Elicit student passions and interests leading them towards potential life pursuits Guide students in a structured goal-setting process/model Manage staggered levels of progress and tailor coaching sessions to individuals Maintain written observations and progress files Identify and communicate student strengths
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in human services, education, social work, or youth development related field.
A minimum of 1-year experience working with a diverse population of students in an educational setting, providing direct services to students (e.g. tutoring or teaching, college advising, or youth development).
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and some weekends. However, most working hours will be during school hours.
